Daniel Acsadi is the former director of the Boston Classical Guitar Society (BCGS). The BCGS is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to advocate for the classical guitar through performance, education, and community building. Since its founding in 1977, the BCGS has presented leading guitarists in concerts and masterclasses while frequently supporting local competitions, ensembles, and festivals including Festival 21 and Boston GuitarFest. The BCGS regularly hosts member performance parties and facilitates interaction among Boston area professionals, students, aficionados, and audiences. Members receive a quarterly printed newsletter with feature articles, classifieds, and updates on area guitar activities.
The BCGS Artist Series is the foremost classical guitar concert program in the Boston area. Recent artists have included Gabriel Bianco, Jorge Caballero, Cavatina Duo, Eliot Fisk, Paul Galbraith, Quarteto Vivace Brasil, Gyan Riley, Ana Vidovic, and Jason Vieaux. The BCGS is also a partner of the Hingham Saturday Sounds Series.
A new cornerstone of the BCGS is the Boston Guitar Orchestra, a community based amateur ensemble that is committed to the promotion of the arts in the New England area through the performance and creation of works for guitar ensemble while building an inclusive community of participants and audiences. In only its second season, its current member roster of 30 makes the BGO one of the largest orchestras of its kind world-wide.
